Bucket Bag Handbag Patten This is a pattern and not the actual handbag NOTICE: Shipping is free only if the pattern is uploaded to you through e-mail When purchased, this pattern will be e-mailed to you in MS Word.doc. The instructions will be e-mailed to you in MS Word OR Adobe pdf format (your choice). The pattern and instructions are now also available in MS Works. If you do not have MS Word and would like it sent in MS Works Word Processor, the pattern will be sent in that format and the intructions in Adobe pdf format. The pattern contains easy to follow instructions with color photos. Be sure to include your e-mail address when purchasing and what format to upload it to you. You will need to have legal size paper (8 1/2' X 14") for printing this pattern. Besides this pattern, a selection of my Bucket Bags will continue to be available so check back often for “Check my other itemsâ€. If you do not have high speed internet you will have problems uploading the file. In that case I would strongly suggest that you request a printed copy of the pattern be mailed to you at an additional cost of $2.50 for shipping. When completed this bag stands about 11" high when flaps are open and about 7" high with them closed. The bag is 7" (inside) in diameter. It is constructed with plastic inserts in the bottom and sides for added support. It requires a little over 1/2 yard of fabric for the bag and 1/2 yard for the lining plus three full sheets of plastic canvas 10'x14". In the late 1950’s I recall owning a handbag which I believed to be named a Bucket Bag. Of all the handbags I’ve owned that is the one bag I remember vividly. When it was opened it resembled a bucket and had flaps which folded in. With the flaps in the open position it gave you a wide view of the contents due to the fact that the bag had a circled bottom. Handbags (or purses) back then were not as colorful as today’s. Mine was just a simple black vinyl one but I loved it. I’ve looked many places trying to find a pattern for one. Though I have been able to find bag patterns named “bucket bagâ€, none are quite like the one I had with the fold in flaps. I recently decided I would make my own pattern. Now with various fabrics available I am able to make a variety of these handbags. I’ve given several for gifts and I think the old fad of the late 50’s is catching on again. Check out my other items!
