You are bidding on a 3 1/2 inch closed hand woven Nantucket Basket with a Cahoon Style Mermaid resin scrimshaw placed on the top of the basket. The baskets are purchased from a company out of NH, and we apply our own resin scrimshaw pieces on them. The diameter of the basket at the opening approx 3 3/4th inches. It is approx 3 1/2 inch tall, not including the handle. There is ivory colored spacer and peg. The basket is a handwoven cane. The top and base are a hardwood. They make a great accessory gift and can even be used as a Christmas ornament. The resin scrimshaw was originally hand etched by internationally famed scrimshander, Linda Layden. The scene on this Nantucket Basket is a beautifully originally hand etched Cahoon Style Mermaid nautical design. The pictures of this basket can't show the amount of detail in this beautiful piece.
