Spangles are attached with the wire threaded direct through the hole on the bobbin - a method favoured by those in the northern part of the lace-making district - Nth. Beds; Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire. I have been gleaning what information I can about the bobbins from reference books, but it's been a struggle, particularly with identifying what type of wood they are!
