Exotics Knitting Needle Sampler Set The Exotic Wood Knitting Needle Sampler Set features four beautiful exotic woods: Size #7 ~ Bloodwood (Cardinal) Size #8 ~ Cocobolo wood Size #9 ~ Zebra wood Size #10 ~ Tulip wood The Knitting Needles are 10 inches in length. This Knitting Needle Sampler Set comes in either a tan or brown suede knitting needle holder case. I think you will really be impressed with these beautiful needles. This would make a wonderful Christmas gift for yourself or to give away. I’m so pleased with these knitting needles that I’ll refund the price (when you return the knitting needles) if you are not pleased with your purchase. If you desire additional pictures of the knitting needles individually I will be glad to provide you with them. Exotic Woods Discription Bloodwood (Cardinal) is a very hard wood - almost as hard as Ebony. How hard is Ebony you ask? About as hard as wood gets. Has a rich, deep red color with some subtle streaking. Very consistent one piece to another. This wood comes from Brazil and is fairly pricey. Cocobolo wood comes from Nicaragua and Costa Rica. The colors vary considerably from one piece to the next but is a beautiful mix of reds, browns and orange with some almost white mixed in - don’t expect a lot of this, though, it’s mostly darker colors. This wood is also very hard and durable, also pricey. Zebra wood which comes from South America and Africa. The name is slightly misleading in that the colors are not black and white like a zebra but a very dark brown and tan striping. Shows very nicely. I took a survey in our store and this was the favorite of many. It’s not quite as hard as the other woods in the set but still a very hard wood. This wood is pricey, too. Tulip wood comes from Brazil and I suspect from all indications may be hard to obtain a good supply. This is my favorite. It’s very expensive (it’s hard to get) but worth the effort. Dark pinkish or red striping on a cream colored base - again, photos won’t do them justice. Tulip wood is very hard and durable - you’ll like them. About the woodworker These needles are made by a ‘medium’ sized old guy in Seeley Lake, Montana on a lathe that’s probably 50 years old (can’t afford a new one) in a shop with a leaky roof. All this said, it’s the largest and best knitting needle ‘factory’ in Montana. I'm very proud of my work and I know you will be equally as proud of your new knitting needles.
