This handmade 3-D card – “Early Morning Walk” - is hand stamped and hand painted by Nancy A. “The Story”:For me, all of my cards tell a story – at least to me! This card reminds me of my mom and my great aunt Harriet. My mom laughs when she tells the story. They used to exercise by walking together in the early mornings, but after they finished they would often reward themselves by going to Dunkin’ Doughnuts! Every item I make use of in my card works toward being able to communicate my thoughts and feelings around the theme of the card. The colors of the cardstock, the designer paper, the way the card is put together, the trims, the embellishments – all are chosen to convey the “story” of the card. Details of the card:The accent designer paper with shades of purples and the pinkish “bling” flower and butterflies were chosen because purple and pink are my mother’s favorite colors. The paper was sewn around the perimeter to the background with contrasting thread for a tailored-look and then adhered to the card front so that the stitching is not visible on the inside of the card, allowing a fresh, clean appearance when the card is opened. The hedgehogs on the front of the card were stamped onto cardstock and then glued to more cardstock for added strength. Certain sections have been raised to add dimension and other portions were additionally raised to further pronounce the 3-D effect. The bow and hat were treated to give a lacquered appearance to add even more dimension and “bling” as well. Lace punches were used because my great aunt had lots of doilies in her home and lace gives such a delicate effect. My aunt had charming collections of delicate figurines in display cases in her living and dining rooms. In addition, coordinating glitter brads were used to catch the eye. (Please see all 6 photos below.) This card measures approximately 5 ¼ X 5 ¼ inches and comes with a coordinating envelope. The inside of the card has stitched contrasting paper with a matching small stamped design in the lower left-hand corner to carryover the theme. The inside has been left blank for you to personalize.
