The paper jacket is a little worn but that has protected the book. The pages have no rips or writting on them and the binding is still nice and tight. The striking designs in this book are derived from the quilts made by the Amish of eastern Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Kansas who have their own traditions in patterns and in combinations of bold colors. Twenty-seven designs are given, many of them with suggested variations. The authentic folk patterns should appeal to many needlepointers, expecially those who are looking for something other than conventional commercial designs. In addition to the detailed instructions for the designs, the book contains a chapter on the history and traditions of the Amish people by Jonathan Holstein.
