Just in time for Christmas. This little pine needle ornament, with patterned pottery center, will shine on your Christmas tree. Or, it's a nice decoration to use year-round. I make pottery centers by pressing red earthenware with my own handmade stamps. The centers are then glazed and fired. I then sew pine needle coils around the centers, and last add a pine needle bow, beads, or other decorations. The coils are sewn with waxed linen thread. The entire process takes many hours. The pine needles are Pinus palustris which I gather in Kershaw County, SC. The ornament, without the attached string, is about five inches in diameter.
