This is a very old quilt top what was created from a scrapbag of vintage/antique material, and is offered at a low starting bid....with free shipping!! I'm no expert with sewing, old material or quilt tops, and will describe to the best of my knowledge.........This Quilt top caught my attention at an estate sale, and the previous owner had been a quilter. When purchased a tag was attached to the top that read: Machine stitched...handmade from vintage/antique scrap material....cotton/muslin material from 1920's to the 50's. I have no idea as to what the pattern style is called. Measures approx 87" long, and approx 71" wide. It is stitched with muslin blocks that measure approx 2 1/4 "inches, and inside the block it features..2..various colors/styles of 1"inch material....(See Photo). Around the outside of the quilt top it features a border of muslin that measures approx 2 1/2" inches wide..... When I look at the way the quilt top is designed it reminds me of rows of diamond shapes, but the color material appears to be cut square......As I stated I'm no expert. The material is believed to be all cotton,and muslin. I have no idea as to the exact age of the material used, but for sure it appears to be from day's gone by. The top will show a few areas of what is believed to be age fading/spots, but with the few areas of age fading spots it still seems to blend in with the material and age. Underneath it will show numerous strings. At the sale I was told the quilt tops for sale had been in storage for some time. I'm sure it needs to be laundered, but i will leave that up to the new owner. As I'm no expert I did not attempt to wash it for fear that I might damage the material. I did look for signs of un-seamed blocks, but I did not inspect each piece. The blocks appears to be stitched together. . This old primitive quilt top has a few areas of flaws, but overall considering age, and storage it has survived to be in good condition or better....Selling as found condition.
