Drop Spindle Standard top whorl spindle with wooden hardwood whorl. This spindle is suited to spinning lighter weight yarns, including fine merino for shawls, silk and cotton. Weight is about 30 to 35 grams and varies with each spindle. Standard set up: shaft length from whorl approximately 8.5 inches, and pointed at the bottom, so it carries on spinning once it reaches the ground. It can also be rolled down or up the thigh for faster performance. Whorl is just over 2 inches and is finished with oils and fine waxes to seal the wood.
